About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from Hoxie High School in 1988 and then attended Arkansas State University and University of Memphis to earn my degrees.

Degrees and Certifications:

I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Arkansas State University in 1993.  After teaching a few years, I went back to school to earn my Master’s of Science Education in Instruction, Curriculum, and Leadership with a focus on Instructional Design and Technology. I love using technology and Project/Problem-Based Learning with my students.

Professional Development:

While I have attended National Reading, Science, Math, and Technology Conferences during my 24 years of teaching, more recently I attended the NSTA STEM conference in Denver.

This summer, I continued Lit Lab training at Harding University.  I am an Apple Certified Educator last year and am certified to teach Project Lead The Way.  I have sought out professional development for Project/Problem Based Learning, MakerSpace, and Picture Perfect Science.  I am a member of the National Science Teachers’ Association.

I place a high value on professional development and have found it to be a beneficial way of keeping my instructional strategies current and refreshed each year.

Current Position:

This is my second year at Nettleton STEAM School.  This will be my third year with Nettleton and I am beyond thrilled to be teaching science.

Previous Position:

I spent seventeen years of my teaching career with Memphis City Schools, now Shelby County Schools, in Memphis, Tennessee.  While at Whitney Elementary and Snowden School, I taught second and third grade and worked as a Math/Technology coordinator. I then taught for four years as a fifth grade math teacher at Richland Elementary in West Memphis, Arkansas.  I was also priviledged to coach a robotics team and work with a dynamic team in leading a STEM initiative.

Family Information:

My husband, Brian Webb, and I married in 2003, and he teaches Physical Science at Annie Camp for JPS.  We have two boys.  Brandon is 15 and Alex is 13.  Since Brian and I are both teachers, we like to wander on family adventures during the summers.

Our dog, Luke, is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.  He enjoys swimming, but is terrified of thunder.

Personal Information:

I love to READ!  In the summer, my family and I spend time traveling and at Greers Ferry Lake.  I like to travel, explore, meet new people, and seek the beauty and fun in everything.  I like to try new foods and spend time with family and friends. This past summer, we went to Los Angeles, Sequoia National Forest, Kings Canyon National Park, Yosemite Valley, Monterey, Pebble Beach, and San Francisco.  We also visited St. Louis and watched the Cardinals play then watched the Cardinals play the Giants in San Francisco.

I am very passionate about helping my students become the best they can be, and I am so happy that I have the opportunity to teach science and coach robotics.
